Fat rat got stuck in manhole in Germany, rescued by firefighters (photo)

Plump Rodent found wedged in manhole cover

On Sunday 24th January 2019 in the western German town of  Bensheim-Auerbach, it took the combined effort of local fire fighters and Animal rescuers to set free a fat rat which had become stuck in the cover of a manhole.

The overweight rodent as a result of  its winter fat had apparently got wedged while attempting to squeeze through a small opening in the metallic sewer cover.

“The rat had quite a lot of winter fat and got stuck on its hips — nothing was going forward and nothing back,” animal rescuer Michael Sehr told news agency DPA.

After about 25minutes of rescue effort, the nine-man rescue team was able to free and release the rodent back into the sewer unhurt.

I can only imagine what would have been the fate of the rodent if it had found in some other town in western Africa.

What do you suppose it would have been? Lets have your thought.
