Rooney hits 200
Rooney hits 200 as Everton hold Manchester City to a one-all draw at The Etihad.
Wayne Rooney Joined the exclusive 200 Club on Monday evening when the everton forward scored his 200th premiere league goal, his second league goal in as many matches since his return to his boyhood club. A clever pull back from 20-year-old forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin was turned in with the left foot in the 35th minute by the 31 year old Rooney to record the latter's landmark goal.
Although Raheem Sterling made sure Rooney didn't end as the match-winning hero when the former volleyed in an 82nd minute equalizer, Rooney's goal was enough to bestowed on him the prestige of being just the second player to have attained such a feat of reaching 200 mark goals in premiere league history after the legendary Alan Shearer who holds a record 260 g0als in 441 games.
The ex-Blacburn Rovers and Newcastle united front-man, Shearer congratulating Rooney's achievement took to twitter to welcome the man of the moment to the 200 Club."Its been lonely in this@premierleague 200 Club.Welcome and congratulations @WayneRooney".
In a post-match interview, Rooney had this to say. "To do it today in such an important game for us, with tough games coming up, it was a sweet moment and I'm sure the red half of Manchester will have enjoyed it as well."
