For fun-seekers, food and beer lovers, its the beginning of the weekend - the first in a string of days where 18+ (and in 9ja of these days) and not so 18 visit their favorite hangouts to enjoy some bottles of their favorite beers and other types of alcoholic drinks.
But aside from the consumption, do you know there are a good number of useful purposes that alcoholic drinks can serve? The list below are 5 of such examples that beer, in particular, can serve;

  •  UTENSILS POLISH
Because of its not so high acid content, beer, when used to dampen a soft towel, can give shine and lustre to metals by gently buffing.

  • MARINATING MEAT:
  •  As a full-blooded African man that I am, Though I have never heard of any friend or family member who has tried to use beer as a marinade (you wouldn't blame me for that would you?); the west has it on record that after it has been seasoned, a beer marinade tenderizes the meat and adds another layer of flavor when grilled. More importantly, recent research findings suggest that marinating meats in beer (especially dark beers) has a health benefit. This is because it helps reduce the formation of PAHs(Poly-cyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons). These are substances which form on meat when grilled or roasted ('Ponmo' fans know what I'm talking about) and are found in coals, kerosene, petrol, Diesel and even in cigarettes. Next time you might want to tell your favorites 'Mesuya' (Nigerian parlance for local beef BBQ man), food vendor or standard BBQ guy to soak your beloved 'Suya'(grilled beef and offal),  'Ponmo'(cow hide)or chicken respectively in some leftover beer before roasting or grilling.

  •  PEDICURE. It is believed that beer contains enzymes which apparently are great softener for callused feet and help stimulate circulation. A mixture of beer and warm peppermint tea in equal proportions in a big bowl is all you need. So after the long work hour of having your feet caged in those fancy shoes, you can wait to yank the latter off for your feet to breathe. All you need do is soak your feet in the tea-beer mixture for about 20 minutes and experience this awesome therapyImage result for pictures of african feet soaked in herbs

  • BUG REPELLENT: When organizing a party next, to keep away mosquitoes from going for your blood and that of your party guests(which of course is their No.1 delicacy); in a bucket, pour some of your left-over beer and keep in a corner your garden or entrance to your apartment. The insects are naturally attracted to the beer leaving you and your guests to enjoy the party.
    But
     Turns out not only humans are fans of beers, Our dreaded buzzing 'friends' equally have a good taste for the drink!
